Experience

Effortless

Don’t let pain or limited mobility hold you back from enjoying the experience of kayaking. The <Gamut Paddle Holder> System reduces stress on your shoulders, torso and joints by supporting the weight of your kayak paddle while you paddle. You’ll paddle for longer periods of time without discomfort, all while using your own favorite paddle.

HOW IT WORKS

The Gamut works with most kayaks. Your kit will include one of our patented mounts, a support post with a pivoting head, and two RotoGrip Paddle Holders by YakAttack that hold your paddle in place between two soft rollers. Simply choose the <mount> that works best for your sit-inside, sit-on-top or SUP. Add a set of RotoGrip <SnapNStraps> for even more paddle security.

7 Best Kayak Paddles

Paddling Magazine, 2020

USE YOUR FAVORITE PADDLE

If you're a long-time paddler, chances are you've shelled out a pretty penny for your paddle. Now you can still reduce stress on your shoulders, back, torso and joints but not have to give up your baby!  Gamut accepts both round and oval shafts. Use it on windy days or when you need to give your muscles and joints a rest, or take it out of the mount and paddle regularly when you want! Paddles of at least 240 cm in length or longer are recommended.

CONQUER ARTHRITIS,
ACHES & PAINS

Stiff joints, arthritis and the aches and pains of aging lead some paddlers to conclude they have to give up kayaking. But by simply adding a paddle support like Gamut, you can continue to do the activity you love. Dozens of our customers are long-time paddlers of "a certain age" who've discovered they don't have to give up paddling after all.

PRESERVE & PROTECT
SHOULDER FUNCTION

For paddlers who've had shoulder surgery and rotator cuff problems, or who have paralysis or a missing limb, preserving remaining shoulder function and range of motion (ROM) is imperative. You don't want to do any repetitive movement that compromises that function, such as raising your arm too high. When you use the Gamut Paddle Holder you're not bearing the weight of the paddle, so you're putting far less strain on your joints. You also have the option of shifting more energy into the stroke on your more dominant side so that you're putting less strain on your compromised side.

HANDS-FREE FISHING

The Gamut kayak paddle holder does something no other kayak paddle holder can, it keeps your paddle securely and conveniently in place as you bait, cast or reel in a fish.  No more paddle leashes, wet laps, expensive pedal kayaks or balancing acts, and you can use your favorite angling paddle. Simply “let go” and your paddle stays put-- there's no worrying it might fall in the water. Paddle backwards just as easily.

Amputation

We asked prospective and actual customers why they planned on using the Gamut Paddle Holder. Their answers ranged from shoulder injuries, fibromyalgia and partial or full paralysis to arthritis, stiffness and absence of a hand or limb.  Many were post-surgical and thought they would have to give up kayaking.

FIND YOUR MOUNT

Gamut can be used with a number of our mounts. Whenever possible, though, we recommend using our Hinged Mount for sit-inside kayaks as this mount provides 5-star stability. We also offer the Apex, Twin Tracks and Custom Mounts, however the stability rating diminishes slightly with these mounts due to absence of secondary stability arms. See our mounts page for the features, stability rating and fit specifications.
